Tangram
Starts "School Evaluation Studies" for
K12 Schools In Turkey
Based
on the know-how of its consultants' in-depth experience
in K12 methodologies, Tangram has set-off a new
"School Evaluation Study" project.
The
project aims at school evaluation studies for
K12 schools, to be followed by improvement studies
in areas of weakness.
The
long term target of the project is a detailed
benchmarking study for K12 schools throughout
Turkey, with Istanbul as the pilot region.

M&A
Seminar
Tangram has participated in Mergers&Acquisitions
Seminar, organized by Hermes on Sep.7, 2001 at
the Hilton Business Center.
The
seminar which lasted a full day aimed at giving
detailed information on types of mergers and acquiditions,
conditions, prerequisites for a successful M&A,
fiscal and legal aspects as well as management
aspects of a succesful M&A.
Two
of Tangram's senior consultants, Dr.Ahmet
Kalin and Dr. Mete Tanrikut
participated in the seminar while Tangram CEO,
Zeynep Tura made a short presentation on Tangram
and the scope of services.
Dr.Kalin's
lecture was based on the fiscal and financial
aspects of M&A, with a brief perspective at
the legal issues. Dr.Kalin emphasized that M&A
should not be regarded as a solution to a financial
crisis within the company but as a strategy for
development and expansion.
Dr.Tanrikut
gave a detailed view on the management side of
M&A, indicating that a successful M&A
required strong corporate structure, good corporate
management skills and clearly defined mission
& goals.
The

Paterson, CEO of Paterson Consulting, UK, whose
lecture was on the human resources perspective
of M&A,
- Mr.
İsmail Ertürk, Executive MBA Director of Bilgi
University, İstanbul, whose lecture covered
world wide M&A examples, strategies for
M&A with an emhasis on Corporate Governance,
- Mr.Cenk
Soyak from Planet Ernst & Young, Turkey,
whose talk was about evaluation methods for
M&A,
- Mr.Alper
Kaya, Legal Consultant for Microsoft Corp.,
Turkey, who talked about the legal aspects and
current legislations concerning M&A in Turkey.

OECD Roundtable Conference on SME's and Competitiveness
Tangram CEO, Zeynep Tura, participated as speaker
at the OECD Roundtable Conference in Cesme, Turkey,
May 10-11, 2001.
Senior
policy makers and SME Experts from OECD Member
countries and other Non member economies attended
the two-day conference, to discuss the issue of
SME competitiveness and its current state in Turkey.
Over 100 participants, mostly owners and executive
managers of SMEs and members of policy-maker institutions
in Turkey attended the 2 day conference.

Speaking
on the 2nd morning session of the conference,
Tangram CEO Zeynep Tura's speech emphasized the
importance of being competitive in the rapidly
globalizing world, Turkey's position in the international
competitiveness scale, reasons why SME's should
give more importance to clustering, the effects
of the recent economic crisis in Turkey on SME's
and importance of technology in competitiveness.

EuroForum Conference on Project Finance
Tangram CEO, Zeynep Tura, participated as speaker
at the Euroforum Conference on Project Finance,
Ýstanbul 16-18 October 2000.
"Project
Finance in Turkey", organized by Euroforum,
UK, was held at Hyatt Regency Hotel, Ýstanbul
on Oct.16-18, 2000. The conference aimed at providing
insight to participants from various sectors on
aspects of project finance, methods and factors
involved. During the 3-day conference, presentations
covered both private sector and public sector
perspectives to project finance.
Amog
the speakers were Minister of State Responsible
for Privatisation, Project Finance Manager for
Turkey of the Black Sea Trade and Development
Bank and President of Prime Ministry Privatisation
Administration.
